Golden-hour timing
In 2026, best light on Photos lands 40 minutes before sunset from May to September, and 20 minutes before sunset in winter. Blue hour (15-25 minutes after sunset) is often stronger for symmetry shots because the interior lighting kicks in.
What security will let you carry in
Tripods are prohibited inside Photos without a permit. Handheld cameras, phones and small gimbals are fine; anything larger than a compact monopod will be turned away at the door. Flash photography is discouraged even where technically allowed.

The angles that work at Photos
Three vantage points consistently deliver the strongest Photos shots: the approach from the northwest corner (best for symmetry), the low-angle three-quarter from the opposite side of the piazza, and the interior ceiling looking straight up (widest lens you can carry).
