Tickets and booking priorities

Three Amsterdam attractions need planning: the Anne Frank House sells tickets online only, usually released about six weeks ahead, and popular slots go quickly. The Van Gogh Museum sells timed online tickets only. The Rijksmuseum is easier, but booking a time slot is still sensible in high season.

Many of the best experiences cost nothing: the canal ring, Begijnhof, the Jordaan, Vondelpark, the markets and the free ferries from Centraal Station to Amsterdam-Noord.

Check official attraction websites before travel — opening days and ticket rules change.
