Arena Floor ticket (€18 + €2)

The Arena Floor ticket adds one thing to the standard experience: a reconstructed wooden platform at the centre of the amphitheatre where you stand at the same elevation as the gladiators. The view up at the tiered seating is the iconic Hollywood-movie angle that 95% of visitors never see — they're stuck looking down from above.

You get: standard areas + Arena Floor walk-on (~10 minutes self-guided). No Underground access. No Belvedere. Time inside: 1.5–2 hours.

Underground ticket (no longer standalone)

In 2026 there is no separate Underground ticket. The hypogeum (the two-level network of gladiator cells, lift shafts and animal pens beneath the arena) is only accessible via the Full Experience ticket. Full Experience ticket (€22 + €2)

The Full Experience is the only official ticket that gets you into all four premium zones — standard, Arena Floor, Underground and Belvedere upper tier. For just €4 more than the Arena-only ticket you add the guided Underground segment (60–75 min) and the Belvedere.

Time inside: 3–3.5 hours including the guided Underground. It sells out fastest of the three tiers.

• • First-time visitor, 1 day in Rome: Arena Floor. The 10 minutes on the floor is the postcard moment.
• • History enthusiast / second visit: Full Experience. The hypogeum tour is the highlight.
• • Family with kids: Arena Floor — the Underground tour is dark, narrow and 75 minutes long.
• • Photography priority: Full Experience for the Belvedere angle plus Arena Floor.
• • Booking last-minute (under 30 days): Full Experience via the official site is almost never available.

Common confusions

• • "Skip the line" ≠ premium access. Skip-the-line means a fast-track lane, not Arena or Underground.
• • "Guided tour" ≠ Underground. Many guided tours stop at the standard tier and never go underground.
• • Free EU under-18 tickets still need to be booked, and they don't include Arena or Underground.
• • Belvedere ≠ Underground. Belvedere is the upper tier rooftop view, only included with the Full Experience.

Can I upgrade my standard ticket once I'm inside?

No. None of the premium areas can be upgraded onsite. You must book the correct ticket tier in advance.
