How to Get to the Pantheon in Rome

The Pantheon sits in the dense historic centre of Rome, on a small pedestrian piazza with no metro station and no road access for general traffic. That makes it easier to reach than people expect — you almost always walk the last few hundred metres.
Here's how to get there from every major starting point, with official 2026 fares and realistic walking times.
The address & nearest stops
Address: Piazza della Rotonda, 00186 Roma RM, Italy.
- Bus: Largo di Torre Argentina (about 5 min walk) is the main interchange for the historic centre — several city lines and airport-adjacent services stop there.
- Tram: line 8 terminates near Largo Argentina, subject to works and replacement buses.
- Metro: Barberini (Line A, 15–20 min walk), Colosseo (Line B, 20–25 min walk) or Spagna (Line A, similar to Barberini).
- Taxi rank: Largo Argentina or Piazza della Maddalena, both a few minutes away.
Central Rome bus and tram routes are frequently diverted for events, roadworks and works on the tram network. Check ATAC or a live mapping app on the day.
From Termini Station
Termini is about 2 km away. Three options:
- Walk (25–35 min): Via Nazionale → Largo Magnanapoli → Piazza Venezia → Via del Plebiscito → Via del Gesù → Pantheon. Direct and scenic.
- Bus (€1.50, valid 100 minutes): take a line from the terminal in front of Termini towards Largo Argentina, then walk about 5 minutes. Check the current line on the day.
- Taxi (approximately €10–€20 depending on traffic and supplements): ask for Largo Argentina or Corso del Rinascimento.

From St Peter's Square the walk takes 25–35 min at a normal pace and is arguably the most beautiful route in Rome: cross Ponte Sant'Angelo, cut through Piazza Navona, exit east into Via Giustiniani and arrive at the portico. Buses run from the Vatican area towards Largo Argentina — check the current line and any diversions before you set off.
From the Colosseum

From Fiumicino / Ciampino airports
From Fiumicino: the Leonardo Express to Termini (€14, about 32 minutes to Termini), then a bus or the walk above. Official fixed taxi fare: €55 fixed fare to destinations inside the Aurelian Walls — the Pantheon is inside the walls. Taxi & ride-hailing
Official street taxis in Rome are white and display a roof sign and licence number; hail them at a rank or book through an app such as FreeNow or ITTaxi. App-booked NCC and Uber Black vehicles operate under a different private-hire licence and are also legitimate, usually at a higher minimum fare.
Vehicles cannot enter Piazza della Rotonda itself. The exact drop-off depends on current traffic restrictions; Corso del Rinascimento, Largo Argentina and Piazza della Maddalena are common nearby points, all a few minutes' walk from the portico.
Practical tips
- The standard city ticket (BIT) is €1.50, valid 100 minutes. Buy it at tabaccherie, metro machines, or through one of ATAC's current digital ticketing partners — the list of approved apps changes, so check ATAC's official page rather than relying on one app name.
- The historic centre is a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL). Don't drive a rental car in without written authorisation from your accommodation.
- Watch for uneven cobblestones. Suitcase wheels suffer.
- If your hotel is inside the pedestrian core, ask in advance where a taxi can realistically stop with luggage.
