The Trevi Fountain sits dead-centre in Rome's historic core, so almost every major monument is within a 15-minute walk. Within five minutes you can be standing on a Roman aqueduct; within ten you reach Galleria Sciarra and Sant'Ignazio; the Pantheon and Spanish Steps sit in the 10–15 minute band, and Piazza Navona and Campo de' Fiori in the 15–20 minute band. Real times vary with crowds and the route you pick, so treat these as bands, not stopwatch promises.

Below is an interactive map with every pin worth your time, exact walking distances, plus where to book skip-the-line tickets, find a toilet, or sleep within five minutes of the fountain.

Every pin is an attraction worth seeing. Hover or tap for a description, walking time and category. The featured marker is the Trevi Fountain itself; brown pins are landmarks, purple are museums, and the small icons mark public toilets.

Paid attractions worth booking near the Trevi

Most sights around the Trevi are free — but a handful of paid attractions are absolutely worth reserving in advance. These are the eight we'd send a first-time visitor to, ranked by how often we recommend them.

1. Vicus Caprarius — the City of Water (1-min walk · €5)

Literally beneath the Trevi. A 1st-century AD Roman insula and a stretch of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct still feeding the fountain above. Open 10:00–17:30, closed Mondays. Small group caps — book ahead. Book Vicus Caprarius →

2. Doria Pamphilj Gallery (6-min walk · €16)

A still-inhabited noble palace on Via del Corso with Caravaggio's Magdalene, Velázquez's portrait of Innocent X, Titians and Raphaels in gilded mirror galleries. The free audio guide narrated by Prince Jonathan Pamphilj is the best in Rome.

3. Quirinale Palace (5-min walk uphill · €1.50–€10)

The official residence of the Italian President — previously home to popes and kings. Three tour options; book online 5+ days ahead, photo ID required. The 90-minute full tour includes the Pauline Chapel and gardens.

4. Scuderie del Quirinale (4-min walk · €15–€18)

Rome's top blockbuster exhibition venue in the former papal stables — rotating shows of Raphael, Caravaggio, Picasso, Van Gogh. Always check the current exhibition before booking.

5. Sant'Ignazio — Terrazza Borromini rooftop (5-min walk · €8)

The church itself is free (home to Andrea Pozzo's mind-bending fake dome), but the new rooftop ticket gives you a 360° view over the Pantheon, Trevi and the centro storico. Limited slots — book online.

6. Pantheon (8-min walk · €7 on all days)

Free weekdays, €5 timed ticket weekends/public holidays. Booking the slot online saves a 30–60-minute summer queue. Book Pantheon tickets →

7. Capuchin Crypt & Museum (10-min walk · €10)

Six small chapels decorated with the bones of 3,700 Capuchin friars. Macabre, fascinating, deeply religious. No photography, allow 45 minutes.

8. Palazzo Barberini (10-min walk · €15)

Bernini and Borromini designed it; today it houses the National Gallery of Ancient Art with Raphael's La Fornarina, Caravaggio's Judith Beheading Holofernes and Holbein's Henry VIII. Combined ticket with Galleria Corsini valid 20 days. Book Palazzo Barberini →

What to skip nearby: Time Elevator Roma (€15) is fun for kids in bad weather, but adults will find it dated. Any "Trevi Fountain audio tour" sold on the street is a scam — the fountain has no official onsite tour.
