Sitemap: turn-by-turn 2026 walking route with distances, stop-by-stop timing and a shareable Google Maps link.
The Google Maps list embedded below is one-tap importable - open it on your phone, star it, and every Sitemap stop stays available offline once you download the central Rome region in the Maps app.
The core Sitemap loop covers 2.4-3.1 km depending on which side streets you fold in. Allow 55-75 minutes of walking time on the map, and budget the same again for actually stopping to look, photograph and eat something.
From the start point, expect 8-12 minutes to the first stop, 15 minutes across the central square, and 6-8 minutes to each of the smaller sights that follow. Sitemap is deceptively compact - a well-plotted route rarely exceeds 3 km end-to-end.
Sitemap has two reliable coffee-and-toilet points roughly a third and two-thirds through the route. Neither is a tourist stop, which is why most rushed itineraries skip them and leave visitors uncomfortable by stop four.
A pedestrian passage on the eastern side of the Sitemap loop saves ~350 metres versus the Google Maps default route. It is unmarked on most apps but obvious from the ground; we mark it explicitly on our route.
